History
Founded in 1992 by Michael Shannon, KSL quickly positioned itself atop the luxury sector of the hospitality and recreation industry—a vantage point that has allowed us to direct a variety of lucrative investments on behalf of our partners.
Initially, KSL invested with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts to acquire and operate an impressive assortment of iconic businesses, including Grand Wailea Resort & Spa, La Quinta Resort & Club, PGA WEST, Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, The Claremont Resort & Spa and Doral Golf Resort & Spa. Our 2004 sale of this portfolio delivered a substantial return on investment.
Our current stable of independent properties includes the venerable Hotel del Coronado and the new addition, Beach Village at The Del, the legendary La Costa Resort and Spa, Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, Barton Creek Resort & Spa, Vail Mountain Lodge and the nation’s oldest destination resort, The Homestead.
